Welcome to the Delta Amateur Radio Club website!
The Delta Club holds monthly meetings, offers formal training classes for all three Amateur radio licenses (Technician, General, and Extra) and informal training sessions on all aspects of amateur radio, supports public service events, provides five VHF/UHF repeaters, hosts a nightly information net on 146.82 with a 107.2 hz tone, publishes a monthly newsletter, Sparks; participates in Field Day each year, and, perhaps most importantly, fosters the amazing camaraderie of the ham radio community. The Delta Club also holds the distinction of an ARRL Special Services Club.
Delta Amateur Radio Club meets on the 2nd Tuesday of each month at the Ellendale Church of Christ located at 7365 US Highway 70 (Summer Ave.) The time for the meeting is 7 p.m. EVERYONE is welcome to attend.
Every year, our November meeting revolves around the election of club officers for the coming year. The December meeting is a pot luck dinner and presentation of awards to members. Members receiving awards are those that have given of their time, knowledge and/or equipment to make a positive impact on their community through amateur radio.
Each month the club offers an interesting and informative program usually centered around amateur radio. In past months there have been programs on PL-259 Installation, Ham Shack in a Cabinet, RF Filters, Inside ARRL Headquarters, Amateur Radio and Emergency Communications, Cheap Yagi Antennas, Winlink, Video on the New Madrid Earthquake, Equipment Silent Auction, APRS, CPR Without Mouth to Mouth, Lessons Learned from the Joplin, MO Tornado, HF Antennas and Airplanes, Spectrum Defense, Software Defined Radio, Field Day Logging Software, D-Star, Lightning Abatement, Antennas and Feedlines, Video Tour of the ISS by Mike Fink, Collaborative Fox Hunt, Telemetry in the New Madrid Seismic Zone, Video Interview of Martin F Jue - MFJ CEO, Video Tour of MFJ Factory, Antenna Tuners and Analyzers, MARS and Armed Forces Day Crossband Exercise, Video Tour of MFJ Amplifiers, Switched Dipole Antennas, Extra Class Math, Slow Scan Analog TV, PSK31 and Data Modes, Digital TV and many more too numerous to mention. Are you a DARC member and have a suggestion for a program that you think other members would like to see at an upcoming meeting? If you are visiting our page and belong to another club, maybe you have some good program ideas that your club has done that you could share with us. We are always looking for new ideas for programs. E-mail us with your suggestions please. Look farther down this page for an upcoming program schedule.
After a short break to stretch our legs, greet new members and visitors and enjoy some coffee and desserts, it is time for the business portion of our meeting. Business meetings are similar in most clubs so I will dispense with the details only to say that this is the part of the meeting where the club is informed on the recent board meeting decisions, ideas and reports to the club including membership votes on necessary items of business. Meetings normally adjourn by 9 pm. If you are local to the Memphis area*, we encourage you to come visit with us and enjoy the fun, education and fellowship that Delta Club has to offer.
